
NAOWA Extends Humanitarian Support to Akpa Otobi Community in Benue State, Empowers Over 400 Families
The Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) has once again demonstrated its commitment to humanitarian service by extending much-needed relief and medical support to residents of Akpa Otobi community in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The two-day outreach, held from 26 to 27 June 2025, aimed at providing immediate support through medical services, food distribution, educational aid, and empowerment to displaced and affected families within the community.
In her remarks at the occasion, the NAOWA President reaffirmed that the outreach aligns with the Association’s core values of “Unity and Charity.” Represented by the NAOWA Coordinator, Nigerian Army School of Military Engineering Chapter, Mrs. Favour Ekpenyong, Mrs. Oluyede noted that the intervention reflects her enduring mission to support vulnerable communities and bring comfort to the underserved.
Speaking further, she stated, “This gesture is not just about giving material items, but about standing in solidarity with those in distress. It is about giving hope, strengthening families, and showing them they are not forgotten.”
Key highlights of the outreach included the distribution of relief materials to over 400 households, payment of tuition fees for 100 primary pupils and 92 students in JSS1–JSS3, financial assistance to 14 widows, as well as the distribution of 200 bags of fertilizer, 34 cartons of King’s cooking oil, 17 cartons of herbicides for farming, and over 400 bags containing food items, toiletries, clothing, and mosquito nets, amongst others.
The outreach was marked by heartfelt appreciation from community members, who expressed that it was the most significant intervention received in recent times.
NAOWA’s humanitarian outreach to Akpa Otobi stands as a reaffirmation of its commitment to unity, charity, and the welfare of military families and affected civilians.
