NAOWA Extends Humanitarian Support to IDPs in Benue State, Empowers Over 2,000 Families
The Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), under the leadership of its President, Mrs Mernan Femi Oluyede, has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to humanitarian service by extending much-needed support to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at the MEGA IDP Camp, Daudu, Benue State.
The outreach, held on the 21st of April 2025, was aimed at uplifting displaced families through the provision of vital relief materials and heartfelt encouragement.
In her remarks, the NAOWA President emphasized the initiative’s alignment with NAOWA’s core values of “Unity and Charity”, stating that the outreach reflects the Association’s enduring mission to stand in solidarity with vulnerable communities, offering them hope, support, and a sense of belonging in challenging times.
Mrs Oluyede, who was represented by Mrs Favour Ekpeyong, stressed that the gesture was not merely about providing materials but about reinforcing NAOWA’s commitment to care for the less privileged. In her words, “We recognize your resilience and strength, and we hope this act of solidarity brings you comfort and renewed hope.”
Delivering a vote of thanks, the camp coordinator, Reverend Father Mfa, expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanking Mrs Oluyede for her motherly care and the vital support provided through the relief materials. He thereafter prayed for continued blessings upon NAOWA’s leadership and initiatives.
A major highlight of the outreach was the distribution of food items and essential toiletries to over 2,000 households within the camp. The event was also marked by a heartfelt show of appreciation from the IDPs, who sang joyfully and danced in their native language to honour the NAOWA President.
In attendance at the programme were NAOWA members from the Nigerian Army School of Military Engineering Barracks, Makurdi, and many others.
The outreach served as a strong reminder of NAOWA’s unwavering dedication to unity, charity, and the upliftment of displaced and vulnerable communities across Nigeria, reaffirming its legacy of compassion and inspiring hope among those in need.
