The President Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) Mrs Salamatu F Yahaya has applauded the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) for building the capacity of 100 members of NAOWA through SMEDAN Institutional Support Programme for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME’s) held simultaneously at the NAOWA Institute of Management and Technology (NIMTA) Abuja and 139 Battalion Ojo Cantonment, Lagos.
Mrs Yahaya stated that the training is coming at the right time considering the role women Entrepreneurs play in the growth of the economy and the need to develop and accelerate the growth of MSME’s.
She also appreciated the Director General of SMEDAN, Mr Olawale Fasanya for considering NAOWA worthy beneficiary of SMEDAN’s Institutional Support Programme and urged the participants to see the training as an empowerment opportunity to become successful entrepreneurs. The NAOWA President commended the Chairperson of NAOWA Partnership and Collaboration Committee, Mrs Antonia Ataguba and her members for this great feat.
The DG SMEDAN in his remarks, emphasized on the importance of the training which he described as a business management training that will equip participants with effective business management skills. Mr Fasanya urged participants to adopt the SMEDAN slogan of ” Think Big, Start Small, Start Now”.
The DG SMEDAN announced that, at the end of the training, participants will be given government grant of 50,000k each. He thus urged the participants to invest the grant into their businesses and that participants will be monitored to ensure appropriate use of the intervention.
Highlight of the event were presentation of souvenir, tour of NIMTA facilities and group photographs.
