The President Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs Salamatu F Yahaya has established a 500 Seat Multipurpose Hall at the NAOWA Model Nursery and Primary School Asokoro (named Mrs Martha Bamaiyi Multipurpose Hall ) and a block of 5 Flats Staff Quarters at NAOWA College Abuja named (Mrs Nnenna Ihejirika Staff Quarters).
Speaking at the event, Mrs Martha Bamaiyi extolled the virtues of Mrs Salamatu F Yahaya of sustaining the legacies of past Presidents of NAOWA and further described her as “a woman per excellence with the heart of Gold. Mrs Martha Baimaiyi also appreciated the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya for his untiring support to NAOWA.
Also speaking at the event, Mrs Nnenna Gift Ihejirika, stated that the NAOWA College was established to provide topnotch international learning facilities to students. She expressed happiness over the infrastructural development in the College and further stated that the construction of the newly furnished staff quarters would provide conducive living environment and propell staff effectiveness.
The Father of the day the COAS, Lieutenant General F Yahaya in his remarks, appreciated the synergy and support of past Presidents of NAOWA in ensuring that the objectives of the Association is achieved. The COAS also appreciated other sister Associations for the unity existing amongst them. He said, Militart Wives Associations play great roles of support to the Men.
Also speaking at the event, the Mother of the day Barrister Mrs Vickie Anwuli Irabor, the President Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), commended the exemplary leadership qualities of the two Special Guests of Honor; Mrs Nnenna Gift Ihejirika and Mrs Martha Bamaiyi. She also stated that the giant strides of Mrs Salamatu F Yahaya is a testimony of her good leadership qualities.
Earlier in her opening remarks the President NAOWA, Mrs Salamatu F Yahaya, stated that the structures are products of her vision of “Sustaining Legacies and Upholding the Tenets of Unity and Service ” she also stated that NAOWA has had great leaders who have carved a niche for themselves through establishment of legacies which NAOWA presently stand on. The President NAOWA stated that, sustaining the legacies of past leaders through proper maintenance of existing structures, provision of additional structures, standardization of all facilities and enhancement of quality services through capacity development programmes for NAOWA members and staff are the operating principles of her vision.
While appreciating all NAOWA past Presidents for their drive towards the present achievements, Mrs Yahaya specifically thanked the COAS for his tremendous support to all NAOWA activities and his commitment to the wellbeing of personnel and families.
The Deputy President NAOWA Mrs Stella Omozoje in the vote of thanks, appreciated all guests that came to grace the occasion and wished them safe journey back to their various destinations.
Present at the event were the former Presidents of NAOWA, Mrs Hadiza Dambazau, Mrs Felly Minimah and Mrs UKT Burutai, Wives of Service Chiefs, Principal Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters and friends of NAOWA.
Highlights of the event were Cultural Display, Project overview, Display by students, unveiling of NAOWA official website, presentation of gifts to long serving Staff of NAOWA Model Nursery and Primary School as well as cutting of cake and group photographs.
