Maxwell Khobe Cantonment in Jos, Plateau State, was vibrant with festivities as the President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs. Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja, commissioned a new unisex salon, named the “Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja Unisex Salon,” and a Medical Aid Station for doctors in the Cantonment. In addition, she conducted a humanitarian outreach to teachers of the NAOWA Creche, Nursery and Primary School, as part of the activities organized to commemorate the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2024.

In her remarks, Mrs. Lagbaja praised the Chairperson of the NAOWA 3 Division Chapter, Mrs. Fibishola Abubakar, for her innovation and foresight in initiating projects that enhance NAOWA’s mission within the barracks.

The NAOWA Present emphasized that the commissioning of these projects and the outreach to teachers underscored her unwavering support and solidarity with military families, and her deep appreciation for the educators and staff of NAOWA schools, especially on the occasion of the Nigerian Army’s 161st anniversary.

The NAOWA President also took the opportunity to express her gratitude to Her Excellency, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her support and encouragement to NAOWA and the Nigerian Army. She further thanked the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, for his steadfast support of NAOWA, congratulating him on his successful leadership of the Nigerian Army.

Earlier, the Chairperson of the NAOWA 3 Division Chapter, Mrs Fibishola Abubakar, welcomed the NAOWA President and praised her visionary leadership of the Association. She noted that Mrs. Lagbaja’s leadership has been a guiding light for all members and has significantly impacted the growth and development of NAOWA schools. Mrs. Abubakar thereafter thanked the President for her generous gestures towards the teachers and staff of the school.

Highlights of the event were the commissioning ceremonies, the presentation of souvenirs and cash rewards to long-serving teachers and staff, and group photographs.
