DAY 1

6 JUNE 2022

The Chairperson Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) 7 Division Chapter, Mrs Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu and her entourage in her series of activities paid a visit to the palace of the Shehu of Borno, His Royal Eminence Dr Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El kanemi. The Chairperson appreciated the Shehu of Borno for his enormous support to the military and also informed him that NAOWA 7 Division is aimed at improving the lives of people in the Barrack community and environs.

The Shehu of Borno gave a brief history of the Borno empire, he described his people as peace loving and very accommodating.

He also thanked the military for all the support they have been rendering to the State in the fight against insurgency and assured the team of his unending support to the Officers and Men of the Nigerian Army and promised to continue to enlighten his people on the need to cooperate with the military.

DAY 2

7 JUNE 2022

The team, led by the Chairperson, paid a courtesy visit to the permanent Secretary and acting Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Alhaji Muhammed Hamza. The Chairperson informed the Ministry that her association is always ready to work with them, especially on issues that affect the social development of Women and Children. The representative of the Permanent Secretary also informed the association that the ministry is into gender-based violence awareness creation and sensitization and also mentioned that there are more sensitization programs targeted at the Boy Child.

The Chairperson and her entourage also had a meeting with the Nigerian Army Soldiers Wives Association (NASWA). In her address She advised the Women to continue to pray and be supportive spouses, she advised them to always take care of the home front, and continue to maintain good hygiene. She also informed them about the upcoming empowerment and skill acquisition programs and encouraged them to take advantage of the opportunity.

Furthermore, The Chairperson gave food items and a token to the Widows of the fallen Heroes and also encouraged them to be upright as they have a huge task of caring for themselves and their children.

DAY 3

9 JUNE 2022

The team visited the 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital where they carried out a ward visitation to the wounded Officers and Men of the Nigerian Army, and also the maternity ward where she gave words of encouragement. The Chairperson commended the wounded Soldiers for their sacrifice, reiterated how proud the country is of them, highly praised them for fighting for their nation, and reminded them that they were not alone as we all pray for their quick and fast recovery. Tokens were also presented to them.
