
NAOWA PRESIDENT ADVOCATES FOR THE EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN AS THEY PLAY KEY ROLES IN BRINGING LASTING CHANGE IN THE SOCIETY
Urges stakeholders to implement effective measures that improve opportunities for women in various sectors
As part of activities marking this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, the President, Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) Mrs Mernan Femi Oluyede, has called for more prospects and empowerment for women as they play key roles in bringing lasting and positive change in the society.
The NAOWA President made this call during a one day symposium held at the NAOWA Events Centre, Mambilla barracks, Asokoro Abuja, on Saturday, 8th March 2025, organized as part of the Association’s activities to commemorate the year 2025 IWD, with the Theme “Accelerate Action”.
In her remarks, the NAOWA President stressed that the IWD is a day dedicated to recognizing the incredible achievement and contributions of women across the globe,while reiterating that the pivotal roles women play in shaping societies, leading movements, and transforming industries cannot be over emphasized.
She further disclosed that this year’s theme” Accelerate Action ” emphasize the need for swift action and decisive steps to address the systemic barriers and biases that women face in various spheres of life. As she urges the participants to be ignited and pursue their dreams in other to “Accelerate Action” so as to improve and cover the gap that needs to be covered.
Similarly, the Deputy President NAOWA, Mrs Bilkisu Ibrahim while delivering her vote of thanks espressed her heartfelt appreciation to the NAOWA President, Mrs Mernan Femi Oluyede for her unwavering dedication and visionary leadership which has been the driving force behind the success of the symposium.
She further commended the contributions of the erudite speakers, Miss Celina Unogwu, Mrs Manfon Emekah, and other professional who have enriched this symposium with their expertise and experience.
Dignitaries present at the auspicious event includes the Deputy President NAOWA, Mrs Bilkisu Ibrahim, 39RC Angels, Wives of PSOs, Senior officers wives, members of NAOWA and the Nigerian Army Soldiers Wives Association,amongst others.
Highlights of the event were the delivering of well parkaged lectures,interactive sessions, and group photographs.
