In line with her vision of “Sustaining Legacies through Unwavering Commitment to Unity and Service for the Betterment of Humanity”, the President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja, has distributed food items to well over 5000 Widows of fallen heroes, members of the Nigerian Army Soldiers’ Wives Association (NASWA) and members of the Military Officers’ Widows Association (MIOWA) during a grand humanitarian outreach held on Monday, 11 March 2024.
The outreach which took place at the Army Headquarters Garrison parade ground, Mogadishu Cantonment, Asokoro, Abuja, was part of the President’s demonstration of love and solidarity for the barracks community.In her remarks, Mrs Lagbaja affirmed that the event not only reflected on the determination and commitment of NAOWA towards imparting positively on the lives of its members, but also underscored the organization’s dedication to promoting empowerment and solidarity among women in the barracks community.

She thereafter expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Association and all those who have supported NAOWA’s initiatives, reaffirming her unwavering dedication to the welfare of military families. Mrs. Lagbaja called on the recipients to see the outreach as a demonstration of NAOWA’s continuous support and love, urging them to remain strong and united.
Highlights of the event were the distribution of bags of rice, oil, beverages and other food items to well over 5,000 persons comprising widows, NASWA and MIOWA members, and group photographs.
